| Louis Monzies: A French painter of Historical subjects and an original etcher of figure studies and landscapes, Louis Monzies studied art in Paris under Gaucherel and de Pils. His paintings and etchings were regularly exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1876. A full member of the Societaire des Artistes Francais, Monzies received numerous medals for his art both in France and at the International Expositions of 1876, 1880 and 1889.
