Richard DOYLE
USA

(1943 - 2015)
Richard James Doyle was educated in Boston at the Massachusetts School of Arts. He then moved to the South to earn a Master's Degree in Fine Art from Ole Miss. When he plunged into the deep south his painting came alive. Inspired by the old shanty houses, he quickly picked up an old stick and with a bottle of ink drew, painted, and then sold it that same day. And thus, the Twig Painter was born. Richard was drafted at the height of the Vietnam War and became the Army Artist stationed in Thailand.
